Doctor Dodgeball

Old-school dodgeball with one twist: every team picks one secret Doctor. The Doctor can tag teammates back into the game — but if the OTHER team figures out who the Doctor is and lands a hit, the whole team is done.

Either: eliminate the entire other team, OR identify and hit the opposing Doctor.

Full rules

  1. 01

    Pick a Doctor

    Before the round starts, each team huddles privately and picks one player to be the Doctor. The Marshall is the only person who knows who. Don't tell the other team. Don't act suspicious. Act normal — that's the game.

  2. 02

    The Doctor's power

    When a teammate gets hit and benched, the Doctor can run over and tag them on the shoulder — they're back in. The Doctor can also revive multiple players over the course of a round.

  3. 03

    Hide your Doctor

    The Doctor can play normal dodgeball too — throw, catch, dodge. The goal is to make the other team waste shots on non-Doctors. Some teams pick their best player as Doctor. Some pick their worst. Strategy.

  4. 04

    Doctor down

    If a clean hit lands on the opposing Doctor, the round ends immediately. Doesn't matter how many of their team are still playing. Game over, your team wins the round.

  5. 05

    All other rules

    Same as Old-School: no headshots, catches put thrower out + revive bencher, no crossing the center line.

Pro tips

  • TIP

    Watch who runs to the bench after a hit. Repeated visits = probably the Doctor.

  • TIP

    A great Doctor lets a couple early hits stack before reviving — confuses the other team.

  • TIP

    If you're the Doctor, throw at least one ball in the first minute. Looking 'too defensive' tells the other team you're protecting yourself.

  • TIP

    Decoy strategy: nominate your loudest player to act like the Doctor. The real Doctor stays quiet.
